Your Norton product key is 25 characters long, formatted as five groups of five characters: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. Enter the key exactly as it appears, including the hyphens. The key is not case-sensitive.
Activation Steps
1
Locate Your Product Key
Find your 25-character product key. If you purchased a physical retail box, look for a card inside the box — the key is printed on this card, sometimes beneath a scratch-off coating. If you bought a digital version or received a confirmation email from Best Buy, find the product key in that email. Keep this key somewhere safe, as you may need it for future reference.
2
Go to norton.com/BestBuy
Open a web browser on the device you want to protect and navigate to norton.com/BestBuy. This is the official Norton activation portal for retail purchases. Make sure you are on the legitimate Norton website before entering any personal information.
3
Enter Your 25-Character Product Key
On the activation page, type your product key into the field provided. Enter it exactly as it appears on your card or email, including the hyphens between each group of characters. Double-check each character carefully — the letters O and I can be easy to confuse with the numbers 0 and 1. When you’re ready, click Submit or Activate.
4
Sign In or Create a Norton Account
If you already have a Norton account, sign in with your email address and password. If this is your first Norton product, select Create Account and register with a valid email address and a strong, unique password. Your Norton account is your central hub for managing subscriptions, devices, and settings — so use an email address you check regularly.
5
Download and Install Norton
After your key is verified and linked to your account, you’ll be prompted to download the Norton installer. Click Download and run the installation file once it finishes downloading. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation on your Windows PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device. The installer will walk you through each step automatically.
6
Complete Setup and Enjoy Protection
Once installation is finished, Norton will launch and run an initial security scan to check your device for any existing threats. Review the scan results, address any issues Norton flags, and configure your preferences — such as enabling automatic updates and scheduling regular scans. Your device is now protected. Norton works continuously in the background so you don’t have to think about it.

My product key isn't working
There are several reasons a product key might be rejected. Try the following fixes:
- Check for typos. Re-enter the key carefully, paying special attention to characters that look similar — such as the letter
Oversus the number0, or the letterIversus the number1. - Verify the key format. Your key must be exactly 25 characters in the format XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. If you’re missing a group or have extra characters, the key won’t be accepted.
- Confirm the product is for your region. Product keys are region-specific. A key purchased in one country may not activate in another.
- Make sure the key hasn’t already been used. Each product key can only be activated once. If you’re trying to reactivate a key on a new device, sign in to your Norton account instead — your subscription is already tied to your account.
- Contact Norton Support. If none of the above steps work, reach out to Norton Support at support.norton.com. Have your purchase receipt ready when you contact support.

If you can’t find your product key, try these options:
- Check your email. Search your inbox for a confirmation email from Best Buy or Norton. The key is typically included in the order confirmation or a separate fulfillment email.
- Look in your Best Buy account. If you have a Best Buy account, sign in at bestbuy.com and navigate to your order history. Digital purchases often display the product key directly in the order details.
- Contact Best Buy. Bring your receipt (or look up your order online) and contact Best Buy customer service. They may be able to resend or look up your key.
- Contact Norton Support. If you registered your key with a Norton account before losing access to it, Norton Support may be able to help you recover your subscription details.
